Colin Morris, Kent Opera Associate artist, is a baritone, from Sheppey. He graduated from Exeter University with BA and PhD degrees in geography, and then studied singing with Gordon Clinton, Paul Hamburger and Derek Hammond-Stroud, OBE. He has recorded lighter repertoire for the BBC. He has performed over fifty operatic roles, predominantly buffo characters in Telemann, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, G&S, Offenbach and Viennese operetta, but also dramatic roles, including Alberich in Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, which he has sung in London and abroad. He has sung with many opera companies throughout the UK, including performances on the South Bank and with D’Oyly Carte at Sadler’s Wells. He has been invited to perform in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand and has toured several times in the USA. As a director/designer he has created over fifty productions, from Shakespeare to Orton via Wilde and panto, many operas, and most of the Savoy Operas.
